1. What is your full name?
Perelandra Cogswell Wait
2. What was your favorite activity as a child?
Reading. I was a bookworm and always had a book with me. When I was 13, I went back east to visit a family friend and we drove to Washington, DC for a tour. She had to keep reminding me to look up from my book so I wouldn’t miss the sites.
3. What job did you have in high school?
I worked at a bookstore, of course!
4. What is your most embarrassing memory?
So many to choose from… the one that comes to mind was when I was in high school and working at the bookstore. One evening as I was ringing up his purchase, an older (to me) gentleman asked me if I was free to go out with him on Friday night. I told him I’d have to ask my parents since I was only 16 years old. Maybe that memory is more embarrassing for him now than for me!
5. What is the best vacation you have ever taken?
There have been many “best vacations” depending on how I define it but the most recent standout is New Zealand. We loved the amazing natural beauty of the country, as well as the incredibly nice people and great food.
6. What makes you laugh out loud?
My silly dog, Sugar. In our backyard we had a large apple tree with a bench built around it, that attracted squirrels all day long. Sugar was always rushing out to chase them and once jumped up from the bench into the crook of the tree, probably 5 feet off the ground. Fortunately she didn’t try to go higher, and she did figure out how to safely jump down!
7. What accomplishments are you most proud of?
Cliché as it may be: my kids, Emma (18) and Harry (15). I can’t believe how lucky I am to be their mom and to help them grow into the fantastic young adults that they are. It’s more their accomplishment than mine but I’ll at least take credit for getting them this far.
8. What advice would you give to your younger self?
Do (more) yoga.
9. What would you like people to remember about you?
I listened and I cared.
10. Why do you practice at Marin Power Yoga?
The classes and the community.
